Easter atmospheres
Easter is coming – with colorful eggs and the rest of kitschy entourage, whether you like it or not. Here you have a few propositions how to spend holidays in alternative ways.
Something for enthusiast of Pre-Christian times; let’s celebrate the coming of spring like Slavic ancestors:
On 7th of April on Krakus Mound is organized the Slavic feast inspired by old Pagan times called “Rękawka”. Besides from medieval recounstruction groups and craftsmen from all over the Poland, you will have a chance to see a competition for the most beautiful warrior’s woman, traditional battles and a run around the Mound. This year’s leitmotif will be connected with Slavic demonology, so if you want to see a local version of banshee and another spirits like strzyga or topielec you are welcome!
If you are in a more contemplative and serious mood, you can try a festival Misteria Paschalia, which takes place from 30th March to 5th April. This is probably the most important music festival devoted to early music, especially from baroque and renaissance. If you are a fan of classical music performed in places full of ambience, like old churches of Cracow, it’s something definitely for you. If you are late with the ticket purchase, don’t panic – you can still enjoy the concerts transmitted with a Polish Radio Programme 2
